In 2000, Tom Watson won the only Champions Tour Championship ever staged at the TPC of Myrtle Beach
MURRELLS INLET, SC -- As the Champions Tour Championship made a one-year stop at the TPC of Myrtle Beach in 2000, Tom Watson rode an eagle and four birdies to a final-round 66, outlasting John Jacobs down the stretch for his only official Champions Tour victory of the season.
Watson seized commmand of the tournament on the 14th hole, as he rolled in a 35-foot eagle putt moments after Jacobs left his eagle try inches short.
Watson's 18-under 270 total set a new tournament record. The eight-time major championship winner did not make a bogey over his final 26 holes.
